February 11-16, 2024: Participation in the 19th International Symposium in Agriculture, Croatia
On February 11-16, 2024, Professor Valentina Pidlisnyuk, NDP, UJEP, and Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Stefanovska, Co-Director, NULES, participated in the 19th International Symposium in Agriculture, Croatia. The event was jointly organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb; Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The symposium was under the auspices of the Croatian Parliament, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia. The event included a pre-symposium workshop “Green Technologies in Agriculture”, a Plenary session, and 11 Topics sessions with supplemented poster sessions. Altogether some 500 participants from 20 countries participated in this international event.
Prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk along with Prof. Zeljka Zgorelec and Prof. Damir Ugarkovic, UZ co-chaired a Topic Session 1 in Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change. Prof. Pidlisnyuk delivered an oral report “Developing an Advanced Miscanthus × giganteus Phytotechnology for post-military land revitalization” and presented a Poster “Multi-year Miscanthus biomass production at the marginal land in the presence of soil amendments: a case of Chomutov, the Czech Republic” in co-authoring with Robert Ato Newton, Sergey Ust’ak, Aigerim Mamirova, and Vojtech Vana. Dr. Tatyana Stefanovska delivered an oral report “Assessment of nematodes as bioindicators of soil health in integrating Miscanthus × giganteus phytotechnology”. At the Topic Session 9 “Plant Protection” Dr. Stefanovska introduced a Poster “Plant parasitic nematodes of Miscanthus × giganteus and their effect on the crop’s production” in co-authoring with Andrej Skwiercz, Valentina Pidlisnyuk, Oleksandr Zhukov, and Anastasia Lutsiuk.
While at the conference prof. Pidlisnyuk and Dr. Stefanovska had a number of scientific discussions related to the ongoing NATO SPS 6094 project. They had a meeting with the Dean of AF UZ Prof. Ivica Kisic; Prof. Zeljka Zgorelec and Dr. Nikola Bilandzija, AF UZ (Linkage institution of G6094); Prof. Marta Pogrzeba, Institute of Ecology of the Post-mining territories, Katowice, Poland; Dr. Hekena Vitoshkin, Volcang Center, ARO, Ministry of Agriculture of Israel; Dr. Aleksandra Percin, AF ZU. The design and content of Training 1 of G6094 in Soil Carbon were discussed, and the draft of the program was prepared. The event is scheduled at UJEP for June 4, 2024.
